Latest HS Track and Field Records: Matthew Boling Becomes Fastest Boy Ever
There’s a new king of speed in America
On May 11, 2019, Houston, Texas Strake Jesuit’s Matthew Boling recorded the fastest legitimate 100-meter time in high school history, when he hit the finish line in a stunning 10.13 seconds.
Oh, but it doesn’t stop there.
Earlier in April, the phenom from Houston also recorded the fastest American 100 meter in history when he burned a 9.98 at the Texas Region 6A-3 track meet. Unfortunately, the time didn’t count as a record because it was slightly wind-aided (4.42 mph). But still — daaamn!
The 6’2″, 171 lbs. senior can also deliver brilliantly in the 200, 400 and long jump, recording official best high school times and distances of 20.31; 46.15 and 26′ 3 1/2″, respectively.
Boiling signed a scholarship to attend the University of Georgia, where he is likely to make considerable noise in the immediate future. It will be interesting to see if this kid can make it to the Olympic Trials this summer. Maybe he could even earn a berth on the team. Now, that would be something.
Look out, Usain Bolt.
Another remarkable American high school record
On May 5, 2018, Armand Duplantis broke the boys pole vault record by over a foot, setting the new American standard at 19′ 5 1/2″. The amazing vault also established a new Junior World record in the event.
Duplantis is an American-born Swedish pole vaulter who holds dual citizenship and attended Louisiana’s Lafayette High School. He is currently a sophomore at LSU. As a Tiger freshman, Duplantis won the NCAA Indoor Championships in the pole vault and finished second in the event at the Outdoor Championships. So, he is definitely in the mix to make it to Tokyo. But will he go as an American or Swede?

He is for real. That’s for sure. Will he stay healthy enough to break some world records eventually?
